Kenya information - our marine parks ..
In nearly no other country in the world is there such a
variety of animals above and underwater, as in Kenya. The
crystal clear waters of the Indian Ocean wash wonderful white
sandy beaches and hundreds of kilometre's of fringing reef.

The Marine Parks and Reserves of Kenya are a recent development.
Protection of this delicate environment is thus
much more likely today than just a few years ago.

For much of its length, from Malindi in the north to Vanga in the south, the
shore is protected by a fascinating coral reef.
lnside this protected environment in sheltered lagoons grow
magical marine plants and other creatures and contains over
250 brilliantly coloured species of fish.
In the recent past National marine parks off Watamu, Malindi,
Mombasa and Shimoni have been established to protect these
reefs and the waters they embrace. For those inclined to snorkel
or scuba dive, the reefs, coral gardens and lagoons are some
of the most beautiful.
Not many people know that East Africa does not have a Coast
Guard Service and therefore it is essential that you dive
with professionals who know the local waters like the back
of their hands, and keep abreast of the sport and its international
safety procedures.
By diving safely a whole new territory opens up - little
known, undiscovered almost. What better way to enjoy your
sport !
Africa Renaissance and its partners
offers visitors several opportunities to explore the marine
parks.
- Day excursions are available from Galu beach and beyond
- Diving courses and activities are also available here,
and throughout the coastal area.
